Celebrate Father’s Day

Father’s Day turned 100 years old on June 20th, 2010. The story of the first Father’s Day, celebrated on June 20th, 1910, is both, interesting and touching.

Sonora Dodd from Spokane, Washington was just 16 years old when her mother died, leaving her father, William Jackson Smart to raise Sonora and her 5 younger brothers. The idea of a Father’s Day celebration came to Sonora as she listened to a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909. It was because of the great affection she received from her father and his dedication towards his children that she began her rigorous campaign to celebrate Father’s Day! Today, Father’s Day is celebrated in over 50 countries around the world.

These days, parents share equal responsibility for their children; they share household chores and are equally devoted to raising children. Therefore, Mom isn’t the only one deserving of some pampering. Fathers play an important role in the upbringing of a child. Father’s Day is hence dedicated to showing love and appreciation for fathers; to saying “Thank You” for the support, dedication and wisdom that fathers give their children over the years.

The best way to thank a father for his hard work, late nights and long days is a perfect spa package from the Best Day Spa in Orlando. And if you think men don’t enjoy spa treatments, think again!
